Research Journal
To start the year the students, share elements of their summer. A topic is chosen for additional research.
Student start year by identifying ways to locate research answers - person, internet, video, books, etc.
To start year students will normally write verbatim from source. As we progress, they will learn proper notation for source, and end year using their own words to summarize information learned.
The students collect that research and share the next day. From that share another connecting topic from the student led conversation is selected, and the process repeats itself.
This data collection will then be used for presentation projects they choose from their journals in early December, early March, with a culminating project in June.
